As an athlete who pursues his hobby in the great outdoors, one must not only protect oneself against different weather influences, but also support the body in the best possible way for training. This is achieved with functional clothing specially designed for running, cycling and other sports.
Why functional clothing is important for sports!
Running as well as cycling and other activities in which the athlete is physically active require comfortable and functional clothing that allows all movements and at the same time quickly removes body heat and sweat. Because: When running or cycling the body heats up, with the sweat production it tries to cool down. A thin sweat film on the skin is therefore helpful to avoid overheating. However, too much sweat is unpleasant. Functional clothing has to provide two benefits here: Do not absorb the sweat too quickly so that the body can cool off easily, and do not leave the moisture on the skin or store it in clothing so that you freeze too quickly. Ideally, the functional clothing for training is designed in such a way that the fabric is adapted to the sweat production of the respective body area. The running shirt has to do more work on the back and armpits than on the arms or stomach.
Which clothing for which workout?
Functional clothing in the sense of functional underwear, which helps the body to regulate heat, should fit as tightly as possible so that it can transport sweat away. Narrow-cut sportswear is also useful for sports that require intensive movement, such as running, as the tight trousers and shirts do not interfere with steps and movements. For warm seasons a synthetic fibre is recommended, for colder days merino wool which warms and transports sweat away.
Additional protection against rain, wind and cold is provided by running jackets and slightly wider cut training pants, which are ideal for warming up and down after training. If you don't want to run or cycle in skintight clothing, you can also put on an extra thin layer - like the thin shorts from Arcteryx!
